Frequently Asked Questions

Is Martypex free?

Yes. You can write and compile unlimited Typst and Markdown documents for free, with a live preview and watermarked PDF export. A one-time Pro unlock removes the watermark and adds PNG, SVG, and custom-DPI export, editor themes, and a snippet library. Pro is a single purchase, not a subscription, and it is shared across your Family Sharing group.

Do I need an account or an internet connection?

No account, ever. All Typst and Markdown compilation happens on your device, so it works fully offline. Martypex does not require a network connection to write, compile, preview, or export.

Does my writing leave my device?

No. Your documents, their contents, and your file and project names never leave your device. There is no cloud upload and no tracking. See the Privacy Policy for the full details.

What is the difference between Typst and Markdown here?

Typst gives you full typesetting control: precise layout, figures, cross-references, citations, and Typst’s own math syntax. Markdown is faster to write for prose and notes, and Martypex compiles it to the same clean paginated PDF. You can choose a default in Settings and open either kind of file at any time.

Is this LaTeX?

Not exactly. Typst is a modern alternative to LaTeX with a friendlier syntax, and it is what powers Martypex. In Markdown files you can still write LaTeX-style math, which Martypex converts for you, so equations you already know how to write will just work.

Can I use Typst packages?

Martypex includes a bundled, pinned snapshot of common @preview packages so your documents compile offline and reproducibly. Packages outside that snapshot are not fetched live; a document that imports one gets a clear diagnostic explaining that live package fetching is disabled in this version.

Does it sync with iCloud?

Your documents are ordinary files. Save them in iCloud Drive through the Files app and they sync across your devices like any other file. Martypex follows the system’s iCloud behaviour rather than running a sync service of its own.

Which devices and iOS version are supported?

Martypex is a universal app for iPhone and iPad, running on iOS 26 and later.

How do I report a bug or request a feature?
